Muslim Youth Conference
A pioneering initiative brought together young Muslims from Vancouver, nurse Richmond and Surrey on Saturday May 20th 2006.

Gathering to discuss the theme Concerns of Muslim Youth Living in the West, 30 people spent the afternoon at Kwantlen University College in Surrey. The youth whose ages ranged from 15 to 25, sat in animated groups to share and discuss their concerns.

In his concluding remarks, Shawkat Hasan, formerly with the UN and a current member of the Richmond BC Intercultural advisory committee and one of the initiators of the event, suggested that the youth consider a follow up session  and be the ones to organize and facilitate it.

The event was co-sponsored by The Muslim Youth Association and Initiatives of Change.
